Window installation step 1: Apply flashing tape to water proof the sill and 12" up each side jam. Apply butterflies at each bottom corner.

Window installation step 2: Apply silicone sealant on the top and sides. Leave the bottom unsealed to allow any moisture intrusion to escape.

Window installation step 5: Apply flashing tape on sides and top widow flanges. Leave bottom open to allow any moisture intrusion to escape outside the framing onto the green coated drain plain. This is the right way to install a window with proper water proofing details.

The green zip board provides a highly moisture resistant and air tight thermal envelope. The white peal and seal sub roof is the second line of defense against water intrusion during a hurricane.
